Visual Arts

At Most Holy Rosary Elementary School, our Visual Arts Program serves as a creative exploration, empowering students to express themselves and connect with the world around them through various artistic mediums. Weekly art classes engage students in projects that include drawing, painting, and collage, providing opportunities to explore essential concepts such as identity, storytelling, and cultural expression.

Our curriculum emphasizes the importance of care for materials and ideas, fostering an environment where students can experiment, reflect, and grow. Through the artistic process, students not only develop technical skills but also enhance their social, emotional, and intellectual growth. By celebrating creativity, we help students cultivate an appreciation for the beauty and significance of art in their lives, encouraging them to see the world through a more empathetic and imaginative lens.

Media and Technology Integration

Complementing our Visual Arts Program is the outstanding library and media resources available to our students. Led by Colleen Rosenthal, in computer classes, students in third through sixth grade focus on mastering Google Apps such as Docs, Sheets, and Slides, ensuring they gain confidence in creating documents, working with spreadsheets, producing graphic art, and designing slideshow presentations. The curriculum also includes an introduction to coding, digital literacy, digital citizenship, stop motion animation, typing skills, and preparation for state tests.

The Most Holy Rosary Elementary School’s library, overseen by Mrs. Limpert, a certified Library Media Specialist with over 30 years of experience, boasts an impressive collection of nearly 10,000 books. Her mission is to inspire a lifelong love of reading by exposing students to diverse genres and formats, fostering a habit of learning and exploration.

The library also serves as a hub for digital literacy and technological engagement. Equipped with a class set of Chromebooks, students are introduced to online resources and guided through lessons on digital citizenship and information literacy. Additionally, hands-on experiences with Dot & Dash and Ozobot robots allow students to practice coding, blending creativity with technological skills that are essential in the modern world.
